The Purpose of This Blog

The purpose of this blog is to assist me in locating members of the 1936 graduating class of South High School in Pittsburgh PA. In 2003, I acquired a box of calling cards that my grandmother, Ida Turkovich, had saved for many years. Looking over the names, I became interested in each individual. Knowing that every card was last in the hand of its original owner, so long ago, stirred a curiosity in my heart. I am now on a quest to reunite each of the cards with its original owner.
f you are interested in learning more about my personal mission to reunite each signature card with it's original owner click here. I hope you'll browse through the names listed here and will enjoy doing so! I respectfully request that you contact me if you happen to recognize, know or are related to anybody on the list that appears at the bottom of this page. Thank you very much!

Agnes Sakmar

I am searching for Agnes Sakmar, who attended high school in the 6th Ward of Pittsburgh, PA at South High School and graduated in the June class of 1936. She was born in or around 1917 and if she married, she may have a different last name. I have been researching the "Sakmar" familyin Pittsburgh and have learned of an "Agnes Sakmar" that passed away on July 26, 2001. I believe this to be the person I am searching for. If I am correct, her parents were Michael & Anna Sakmar ad her siblings are as follows:
Michael Sakmar Jr., Catherine & Helen Sakmar, Rose Barczak, Joseph & Andrew Sakmar & the late Anna Overlingas, George, Mary, Martha, John, Elizabeth & Susan Sakmar. If you know or are realted to Agnes, please contact me so I can return her calling card.

Agnes Kirley

I am no longer searching for Agnes Kirley who attended South High School in Pittsburgh, Pa and graduated in the June class of1936. I have located her family and returned her card to them! Hooray!

A Celesta Carnahan

I am currently searching for Celesta Carnahan as I have her calling card and would love to return it to her or a close relative. Her picture is displayed in the "Oriole", Pittsburgh's South High School yearbook under the June graduating class of 1936. her name is posted as "A. Celesta Carnahan" on her calling card, so i do believe that Celesta may be her middle name. I have been researching the Carnahan family in PA and have not been able to find much information. Here are some of the details posted next to Celesta's picture in the Yearbook:

Nick Name: Les
Clubs/Activities: Senior Leaders, Senior life Saving, Swimming Team
Description: True friends like "Les" make the world go round.

If you are, know or are related to Celesta Carnahan, please contact me. Keep in mind that Celesta may have a different last name if she married.
